“Amid the wealth of guitar bands,
soulstresses, hip-hoppers and singersongwriters on the scene, there is
something more out there that could
well just blow your mind. Years After
Your Death is the solo project of Kingsley
Ravenscroft, one half of Formication. His debut album is a
delicate and beautiful creature that has been ridden roughshod
over with industrial boots. Murders starts the album with
delicate strings that lull you into a false sense of security for,
ooh, at least a minute before haunted samples come into the
mix, the unease sets in and you catch a glimpse of The Unlit
and Unlovely’s darker side. The tension in the music builds as
the album progresses, giving an aural oxymoron that leaves you
feeling calmed yet paranoid. A feat, I imagine, that’s not so easy
to accomplish as a musician. A hypnotic piece that’s well worth
an hour of your uninterrupted time. Ali Emm”

New Music! Night of the Chameleon

I performed my first solo gig at The Chameleon Arts Cafe, Nottingham on 8th Jan this year – The gig was recorded from the sound desk but sadly the file was corrupted and unusable. However, this half hour set was performed with Ableton Live and as such I was able to master the entire set from the saved arrangement in Ableton Live, which I present here in full. The set features two brand new pieces and reworked versions of Murdered and New Water from my debut album, The Unlit and Unlovely. Thank you to the Chameleon for the opportunity to perform. The Unlit and the Unlovely is now available to download.

Featuring 11 tracks of lush, dark, electronic minimalism, The Unlit and Unlovely traces the intervening period since the last Formication release, The Eyes of Erodern Reviema from personal disintegration and despair to rejuvenation.

More than three years after Kingsley and Alec recorded the sessions, which gave rise to the Formication album, The Eyes of Erodern Reviema Kingsley’s debut solo album is  just a week away from release on Monday 26th November.
